BFHS Autumn and Spring Exchange
The Autumn Exchange has been running for several years, with the Spring Exchange starting in 2015 with a very successful event in York. Unlike SWASH, which is open to all HEMA practitioners, the exchanges are BFHS events geared to 'Fed' members only.
The format is not very different to other events - typically there will be two seminars running at once, with a third area available for freeplay and one to one lessons. There are also tournaments - typically longsword, rapier, backsword and smallsword/duelling sabre.
As with other events, there is also a significant social aspect to the Exchanges. The post-event pub session or evening meal is an opportunity to corner your favourite fencing instructor and tell him (or her) why he's wrong about whatever you've got a bee in your bonnet about. Or to exchange views in a frank and mutually respectful manner, depending on who you're talking to.
